Cheap Dedicated Server For Virtualisation?
I currently have two VPS’s – One Windows and one Linux. I am looking at maybe upgrading to a dedicated server in the UK as cheaply as possible so I can use virtualisation myself to install Linux and other images for testing purposes.
I believe that Windows Server Standard R2 comes with the ability to install the Hyper V role? So this is all I need?
Any help would be appreciated.
Any recommended dedicated server providers would be helpful so far I have looked at poundhost and racksrv
The cheap servers will be low configurations . But you may need a good hardware to use it for vps specially Windows vps :-D
There are a lot of good providers, do you have a budget and/or location preference? Any other requirements .... the more you provide the easier it is to receive feedback on where to go.
You've got a number of other options such as Vmware workstation although my recommendation would be Vmware ESXi or XenServer if you absolutely must have one physical server running 2 or more VM's.
What's your budget? as cheap as posible - pay for what you get
A windows license will cost, you could go with linux instead and get better hardware for that money.
- Managed dedicated servers, cloud servers and software development.
price vs service
You get what you pay for - if you are thinking of going with the cheapest you should consider what you are sacraficing
