    Cost of International Colo facilities

    Hello all,

First time post. My company is looking at expanding into the Asian/Indian market and wants to gather some initial costs.

We are looking at Mumbai, Jarkta and Singapore.

Any idea about costs there? Looking at a full 42U rack. Any suggestions for good providers?

    Thanks,

    James

Can only comment on BW prices, but that will be the most expensive anyway,

    Mumbai: Around 20-50$ / Mbit.
Jakarta: Very expensive, ID is after PH the most expensive COuntry in Asia. 60-100$ / Mbit
Singapore: Rather cheap, 20-30$ / Mbit

I don't find much difference between the quality of service by "cheap" and "expensive" carriers, at least in Asia.

    Hi James,

It is important what kind of site do you need: a) a data center which is expected to provide infrastructure and IP bandwidth or b) a carrier-neutral facility in which you could create your own network?

A good place to search for Asian data centers is Datacentermap.

You will see lots of inter-Asia traffic going to US, if you use "cheap" carriers.

We are definitely looking at a carrier-neutral facility. That said we will be primarily getting our bandwidth from local ISPs.

    Hi James,

I am William from Singapore. I am able to assist you with co-locationn in all the 3 countries mentioned.

Not sure how we pm each other here.

    Thanks,
    William

Internation Co-Location is not recommended in my opinion. I would recommend renting or using a data center in your country becuase their could be possible issues in that country that could result in your down time.
