If you haven't tried these yet, I recommend them...

w3schools.com - http://www.w3schools.com/php/default.asp
lynda.com - http://www.lynda.com/PHP-tutorials/p...ing/435-2.html

PHP and MySQL Web Development (4th Edition) -

Learning PHP, MySQL, and JavaScript: A Step-By-Step Guide to Creating Dynamic Websites (Animal Guide) -

Good luck, have fun!

+1 for W3schools. One of the easier sites to learn ANY programming language. Live code-changing demos, clean documentation, etc.

w3schools is a great starting point. I learned very quickly by getting a book (I think it was http://www.amazon.com/Learning-PHP-5...ref=pd_sim_b_4) and blasted through it in a weekend.

+7 on w3schools.com, I use it all the time (for more than just PHP). Also, check out PHP Classes... lots of great stuff for PHP, not limited to tutorials.

W3schools for the basic category, and then tizag.
After that, think up an idea you want to make and then use php.net to find the functions.
