    * New to dedicated servers. Is my wishlist realistic?

I am looking for a dedicated server. I am currently running an OpenVZ/Centos container (4GB, with 3TB bandwidth, guess where ;=). Pretty comfortable with system administration, but I don't really know much about dedicated servers (other than that they are expensive :-)

    But here is my wishlist:

    - midrange CPU (quad)
    - 4GB ram
    - 250GB hard drive space
    - raid 10
    - able to reinstall/switch OS many times (without cost or big waiting times)
    - 10-20TB bandwidth
    - 1000mbps connection
    - backup and restore (ideally full backup)
    - reliable :-)
    - USA based

Should there be anything else on my wishlist?

The server could be unmanaged (of course, but would be interested to hear what a simple monitoring/restart option would cost).

I looked at a few websites, and so far it looks like that 100TB.com would be exactly what I need. But they are too expensive for me (the cost would be roughly $300/month, maybe because they offer 100TB ...).

    Sorry if it sounds like I don't have a clue (because I don't :-)

your not going to find many systems with raid 10 for under $300 assuming you mean with a hardware raid controller.

software raid maybe. hardware/bbu = most likely not

maybe look at 10tb.com instead of 100tb.com?

    10tb.com redirects to 100tb.com

What are these systems/providers? Please let me know.

  6. Other than your request for RAID 10, I think you'd do pretty well finding a vanilla option in the Offers forum. Is that an absolute requirement? You could probably get 2 x 250GB hard drives in RAID 1 along with 10TB of bandwidth for under 300/month.

Do you need a control panel with your server?

I am not able to edit my original post, but I think Raid 1 is acceptable.

    I wouldn't need a control panel.

I am sure it will be more than reasonable to find a good provider for your demands
For the OS reinstall, make sure choosing some form of kvm-over-ip so you can manage it all yourself.

Not all providers will be able to offer it, but the better ones will

    Hello,

I think you can find a good offer by SingleHop if you contact them. They are offering free upgrade on BW to 20TB at the time.

    Best regards
