Horses pull a tanker truck out of snow?

There is a part of me that thinks this has to be a joke, but apparently it is real. Horses are shown pulling a tanker out of the snow.

Watch horses pull a tanker truck out of snow (Jalopnik, re-posted on Consumerist)

The video looks legit too me. Those are draught horses which are breed for pulling heavy loads and plowing fields. Notice the similarity of the horses in the video and the Budweiser Clydesdales.

Did the horses get spooked at one point in the video? Or am I seeing things?

Horses spooked? I would say no. If you look at the video closely, you can see a person controlling the team of horses. The horses at first had a difficult time of pulling on the slick conditions, but not at all spooked.

The type of horses which pulled the semi out are very mild tempered. The horses in the video look like Shires or something similar. This breed of horse can easily weigh up to 1200 to 1800 pounds.

Nice! Thanks for the information. You seem to know a lot about horses.

You should look up where and how the term "horsepower" was derived, it actually does come from horses.

I think it is incredible to see the two cultures merge in that way. We may think their ways are backwards, but there is definitely something we can learn from them.

    LOL thank you both.

I want a horse. My MIL has horses and I might ride them this summer. Haven't rode one since I was wee little.
