    wget returns a "No route to host" instead of the usual "Connection refused"

    And just to double check, I pinged and tracerouted fine.

    I think this is the problem
    httpd: Could not reliably determine the server's fully qualified domain name, using 127.0.0.1 for ServerName

    # Do not remove the following line, or various programs
    # that require network functionality will fail.
    127.0.0.1(Should i edit this like to the ip of the host) s97108 localhost.localdomain localhost
    ::1 localhost6.localdomain6 localhost6

    There should be no need to edit the HOSTS file. If you have setup your server to use a FQDN for its hostname (server.site.com) and the apache daemon is complaining, I would take a look at the Apache Conf and also make sure that your domain's DNS records agree with what you put.

    The location is /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf and the directive that you are needing to focus on is ServerName
