This is the second one in the past few months, except this one seems to be have been much more devastating.

Thank goodness I live in Auckland and not Christchurch but my deepest condolences to the people affected.

I'm in Christchurch, my work is right in the square. Bloody scary, our building is meant to be able to handle an 8 and it moved like there was no tomorrow, 5 stories up. All our monitors were thrown around the place.

Looks like my motorbike is stuffed, I had to walk home.

Currently over 65 people confirmed dead but I think there are going to be hundreds.

I have a few friends down there, but I cannot get in touch. Waiting to somehow get through to make sure they are alright.

There's been several aftershocks. Not sure if they've caused extra damage.

I went into Christchurch CBD yesterday into the main Telecom Exchange building to get some essential services going.

Its just one huge bomb site within the CBD, so many buildings are down or need to come down

No survivors have been found since Wednesday I believe. Current death toll stands at 123 and there are still 200+ missing.

Its been a sad week for Christchurch

That is too bad. I suppose that such ratings (e.g. able to handle <x> level) are not always accurate. :/
