    Scholarships for Business Owners?

Do any of you know of any scholarships for business owners? I have came across a few, but I really thought there would be more.

I missed the university's privately funded business scholarships due to a delay in getting my transcript in.

Out of curiosity, what do you consider a business? I ask only because there is a major difference in owning a legal entity created off LegalZoom and owning a business that has full-time employees, office locations and so forth.

Additionally, in what state are you located?

Hopefully I'll be able to help you in some capacity

Such business owner scholarships are likely not all that common. They certainly may exist, and you may find some funding that way, but many scholarships here in the U.S. are based on a) your intended major, and b) your academics (GPA, etc.).

If you're pursuing Biology, there are scholarships for that. Same for Computer Science and other majors. Aside from that, your GPA alone (either HS or in college) can qualify you for scholarships. Many/most scholarships are also based partly on grades, so finding one that purely said "If you run a business and are in college, here's $1000" may be a bit difficult.

I hope I don't discourage you. There likely are scholarships out there, but I'm not aware of any big scholarships sources for business owners.

Thanks for the replies! I wasn't expecting to find scholarships like you suggested, Mike. I came across one that was for small business owners who are working towards their MBA and have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 and above.

I am starting a web hosting firm with a full time staff, an office, and registered. I live in Arkansas. I am planning on making this my full time career.

Very cool. Feel free to PM me if you need any free guidance on specific scholarship apps. I sometimes help students apply for scholarships.
