    SSL WHMCS Secure?

This will seem like an incredibly noobish question but I have install WHMCS on public/clients and given it the subdomain "clients". Do I secure just the subdomain and that will secure the entire checkout process?

I think I know the answer but I want to be absolutely sure.

    Yep, that's pretty much it.

I'd just put it in clients and leave out the subdomain, that way you can get an ssl cert for your main domain and use it anywhere on your site you need to. Otherwise you're looking at a wildcard ssl if you need to secure multiple areas (whmcs, affiliate app, forums, etc) and that's far from cheap.

    Thanks for the replies.

This is the first time I have ever used a ssl certificate. Do you mean I should put it on " www.host.com/clients " ? If I do that, will the clients.host.com still be secure?

I can use it on multiple parts of the site if I leave out the subdomain? I don't really understand. Could you please elaborate for me a little?

I suggest you don't use clients.host.com at all, and only use host.com/clients.
The thing about SSL certificates is that they only work on one hostname. If you want SSL on host.com, forums.host.com, and clients.host.com, you need 3 SSL certificates, or you need a "wildcard" ssl certificate, which is hundreds of all dollars.

I lay all my sites out under 1 domain

    host.com
    host.com/clients
    host.com/forums
    host.com/idevaffiliate
    host.com/whatever

That way you only need 1 SSL certificate and 1 dedicated IP.
