    DNS Zone Scripts?

So I've been looking for some scripts or a way a user can add a DNS zone to point to a server IP. Does anyone know of any free/paid solutions for this?

    Hi
If you have a control panel ,you can do it using the control panel. IF you don't have a control panel, its easy to write a simple php script to add/remove dns zone records.

So your looking for a scripted solution to create DNS Zones on your DNS Server? If so it will depend on what DNS Server your using and if it has an API etc. Perhaps you could provide more details on your setup and requirements?

So I currently have a cPanel/WHM server setup and I want people to be able to add hostnames by themselves. Is there anyone who can write up a script for me and this could possibly be paid?

Wouldn't the zone editing tool within cpanel not do the job?

Yeah but I want other people to be able to add DNSZones and not just me via cPanel.

Webmin is a good, free resource that will allow you to lock them down to only do their zones, and can even set what type of records they create.
It's actually NOT easy to hand hammer out...you have to do things like increment the serial, which is not too awful easy for non-advanced scripters (finding a string of text, replacing with an incremental #, and usually based on date...) not for the casual scripter.

But, Webmin will do exactly what you need, and free. You can also use it to give them just about any other granular access to other services / resources on the box.
