I see many gaming company are renting out ventrilo but are reselling through another provider. (i.e. not listed on the ventrilo host page)
I have a ventrilo license myself for a company i've been running for a while but I have not been doing much with it in all honesty..
The setup of servers is already automated/etc via whmcs and TCAdmin. I have 3 machines running @ LiquidWeb and I have to say they are barely used at the moment. Excellent network and I cover my fees with current subscribers, but I'm lacking a bit of direction.
Just wondering if anyone has any advice on how I could make some extra $$ via reselling or advertising. I've tried advertising on google/yahoo/etc with keywords but I have yet to see anyone subscribe from google or any other search engine.

I had the same issue when I was selling game servers. I ended up getting hooked in with a bunch of world of warcraft players and sold piles of ventrilo servers to those guys, quite a few of them maxed out the allowed users, Great customers and always paid their bills on time.
They are good value adds to normal game servers also and you could even try marketing to your existing client base for a discount. You are lucky to have a ventrilo license so the price is yours to set.

also, if you are a gamer just make yourself known in your circle. I was a big unreal tournament 2004 player and had 14 public servers that were about as high traffic and well respected as you can get all with my company name tastefully mentioned on them when people began to game. god forbid I wanted to actually a game, people either wanted to sign up, wonder who hosted me, or just wanted to tell me how sweet my game servers were. hell people even donated money haha.
It was all hosted on 1 machine that cost about $175/mo and I got people signing up for game servers and ventrilo right and left. Best advertising I could get

Hey,
I hear alot of people like the guy above said pay for ventrilo servers for world of warcraft etc. You could always try a little advertising on www.ac-web.org
You might find a lil more buyers for world of warcraft there if you market the prices right

game serving is a huge pain and I wouldn't attempt to sell them until you have some serious experience under your belt. You will find yourself editing game scripts and fixing user errors on multiple occasions and that is where it will come in handy.
If you are just starting in the gameserver biz, consider reselling for a company like defconservers.com he is the man when it comes to game servers and they have a nice reseller setup.

You are going to need servers in multiple locations to compete with most ventrilo resellers.
As for advertising, try signing up with multiple game related forums. Networking is best in the game industry.

With Voice servers its pennies on the dollar. Was it hard to get a ventrilo license?

I would also recommend using a good game panel, TCAdmin is probably the best out there.

advertising will be better option for great earning. But for getting advertiser on you sites you have to advertise first or promote your websites. Better way of promotion is through facebook fan page.

It is difficult to get a Ventrilo license (if not impossible now- Flagship has something that works, and the simple fact is that most new providers that try selling their services are run by people that aren't very mature / don't stick around very long).
Reselling PowerVS could be a great option.
