    Question subdomain is redirecting to some other website

    I have following sub domain (phpdemo.articlecon.com). It is redirecting to some unknopwn website. I have searched my web hosting space, but didn't find any file, which is redirecting my subdomain to other website.

    Can someone guide me in this regards.

    Thanks in advance

    You need to edit the DNS zone for this domain, or get your host to do it for you if you have no access. Each subdomain is capable of having a different IP address, although that is not the usual case.

    Check your .htaccess file, it may be hidden by default in the cpanel file manager (if that's what you're using).

    @Samb0057 Your tip clicked. Thanks for your reply. There was a hidden .htaccess file with 0 byte of size. I renamed it and problem was solved. But after a while, I saw a new .htaccess there with 0644 permissions. Anyhow, I have uploaded index.html file. Currently index file is visible. But Iam afraid, that newly created .htaccess file may cause problem again. Can you further guide me in this regards.

    Thanks in advance

    Have you changed your password?

    Download the .htaccess file and open it in notepad. What does it say?

    I don't see a redirect on that url, which there would have to be if it were redirecting through .htaccess / PHP etc.

    However I do see 2 A records for the subdomain:
    Code:
    $ dig phpdemo.articlecon.com

    and the "unknown website" is one of your neighbours on the same server, so this looks like a SNAFU rather than anything deliberate. Report it to your host - they should be able to fix it by editing the zone for your domain.

    There are also some DNS entries in my cpanel hosting account. Should I remove all of these ?

    You can try to trace this unknown web site, and see the IP.

    I believe that it is a dns masking issue. If you have access to settings forward it permanently without masking it and if you do not have access then contact yr host/registrar for the issue as it should be solved in a snap.

    Good luck.
