What do you look for in VPS hosting

What are the crucial elements you look for when purchasing a VPS? IE, Real hypervisors or container based, geographic location, windows/linux/other os, etc. Any info would be most appreciated.

    Thanks and take care.

It really depends on what you are wanting to host and what technical skills you have (when it comes to managing the server itself)

For example if you don't know how to manage the technical side of things and want the host to do that you want to look for a Managed VPS.

There have been a few topics on this exact question but basically (having a quality product and support is a GIVEN):

    - Excellent established rep/history for host.
    - Pro-active and very responsive support.
    - Regular account upgrades.
    - Well managed nodes.
    - Well priced offerings
    - Diverse options (OS templates, etc...).

A real business operating the company
A phone number contact - Google the number to verify
A clear Terms of Service and an even clearer refund policy

    I need a few things:

    1. Reliability -- I want a reputable hosting company that has been around awhile.

    2. WHM -- I am developing my technical skills and WHM helps me in a wysiwyg kind of way. It makes managing a VPS easier for me.

    3. A bit of hand holding. For me... a managed VPS is a must-have. Hopefully someday I will have acquired the skills to do this all on my own but for now... a little hand holding (or a lot depending on the issue) is a must-have for me.

I look for reliable management, and a team whom provides excellent support. I always check their reviews, and also speak with their sales team before I commit.
