Godaddy locked then unlocked my account, but what does this mean?

Yesterday I've registered my domain name at GoDaddy and it all went well, then 30 minutes ago I received an email that my account is locked for security checks and that I should send them a photo of my ID or passport. So I did, and it quickly got unlocked, problem solved, except for the uneasy feeling of being treated like a criminal.

So at the bottom of their email, it says:
To thank you for your patience, we'd like you to enjoy 20%* off your order of $xx or more at GoDaddy.com. Simply use source code xxxxx when you order or mention the code when you call (480) 505-8877.
Does that mean I should call that number and they'll give me back 20% of the money that I've already paid? Or this is only valid for a future order?

You'll get 20% off your next order. Hopefully it applies to renewals.

Its just a normal verification procedure which GoDaddy followed. I suppose many Registrars do that.
