    Australia Citizens

So i am planning to travel to Australia sometime soon,

I have a couple of questions for people that have been there, or live there.

1)Is there any specific spot i should avoid or something?
    2)What sights are worth seeing?
3)Any Specific motels i should stay at?
4)Is it normal to be wearing shorts there due to the hot weather?

That's all i have to ask
Hopefully someone can give me some guidance =)

Australia is a hell of a big place, Andrew.

It depends on what you want to do. A city break? Backpacking? Camping? etc.

If backpacking, I'd advise travelling up the East Coast from Sydney to Cairns, stopping at the Gold Coast on the way. Jump on a ferry to the Whitsunday Islands while you're there too. (Although I'd wait a little while before you head up the East Coast, to let them recover from the floods).

There's so much to see in Australia. The Blue Mountains. Sydney and its many famous sights. Uluru (Ayers Rock). The Great Barrier Reef. The list goes on and on.

And yes... wear whatever is appropriate for the weather. If you head to the East Coast in Summer (our winter remember, assuming you live in the northern hemisphere), then you're gonna be hitting temperatures in the mid to high 30's (c).

Don't forget about Perth/Western Australia on your travels, most people just do the east coast. Alot of people from then UK love our beaches and weather here, it doesn't get as tropical as over the eastern of Australia.

If you did come this way, I suggest the Margaret River region of Western Australia. Great wineries if that's your thing, surfing. Beaches; Cottesloe Beach is a must in summer. Anything along the coast you would love.

Most motels/hotels should be fine in Australia. Nothing really to 'avoid' per se, just use common sense. Yes, shorts are appropriate when you have 30 degree plus weather every day in summer. :-)

I can't really comment about the east coast (it's like a 3 hour or so flight for us from Perth to over there) so have never been to anywhere else in Australia unfortunately. Indonesia is actually closer for us than the east coast, just to put that into perspective.

    You say soon how soon?
What month are you planning on coming in?
As far as where to go and what to see as Jammie said it is big place almost as large as the US in land mass so lot depends on what you like to do as to where you should go.
Sydney is a large city think NY, LA type of city with lots of things to see and do.
Gold Coast of QLD where I live is kind of like a Miami Beach area with lots of sun and sand.

So tell us what you are wanting to see and then we can better guide you.
You are welcome to PM me if want.

Never been there myself, but I'm told you should avoid Northern Territory if you're not a manly-man and a beer drinker.

Hey come on we aren't that bad here. We might of been founded by convicts but that doesn't make us all convicts, just decendants of convicts
