    Dedicated Static content servers

    Hi,

Was wondering if I could do this, and see a performance gain.

I was thinking of creating 2 servers in the same network for the purpose of hosting static content.

I would have multiple domains serving files so the browser can fetch it faster, these would be

    static-s.domain.com
    images.domain.com

Would I expect a performance boost?

I created a diagram since my explanation can be confusing.

Yes, it would definitely help in reducing the load on the main webserver. Or you can consider on CDN solution.

I have considered CDN, but right now I just need a stable server.

Are you looking for a stable server?
    Do you need anything definite?

IE and Firefox by default restrict users to 6 connections total and 2 connections per host for HTTP 1.1 connections.

I suggest you take a look at these articles:

You will only find out how good a provider is when the going gets tough
