    * What kind of trickery is this?! 4 Clients in One Day!

So today I launched my new hosting company <snipped>

At 7 am today I posted 3 ads on 3 forums. 1 on WHT (see the Shared Hosting Offers forum for VeliSpace), one on DigitalPoint, and another on V7N.

Now everyone here says to expect to be in debt for a year before getting profit.

Well today, I got 4 new clients to sign up for shared hosting. On VeliSpace. And it just officially opened today.

One even paid for a full year ahead of time - $125/yr!

And you want to know the strange thing? None of them came from WHT! All of them came from V7N and DP!

This isn't normal, did any of you experience this when you started a hosting company?

Also, all the orders appear to be legit.

And one of the orders was actually a referral by one of the guys who works with me in the company (he referred the $125/yr client).

    Whoa.

Congrats on your 4 new clients, it seems as you did well. This isn't strange by any means, some businesses take off quicker then others.

Thanks everyone. I just got an order, and it was a fraud - to bad, it was for $65. I suspended the account and notified the owner, waiting for a reply.

Great to hear - hope the sign-ups continue steadily.

People do say that you're going to be in debt for at least a year before profit but that's a big generalization because there are just so many factors involved.

Well hopefully, they are all good sales. But, there is a contingent of scamsters out there who move from host to host on the money back guarantee clause.

Well the person has an incomplete profile, and our tos explicitly states that an incomplete profile/fake information is a cause for termination and is a violation of tos.

And if they ask for a refund, well, I could deny it as they violated the tos in the first place. I could do it. But I probably won't, don't want to gain a bad wrap.

Yeah, but it turns out that it wasn't a scammer. I entered the clients credentials into Maxmind, and it returned a score of 7 Turns out I entered the wrong country. I corrected it and it came out as a two!

So I'll let it leave, until I see something bad happening (there are some elements of the order that are making me suspicious.)

    Well,

You have expenses, taxes, advertising and you still have to make enough and be able to keep doing this daily to stay in business. It is not a matter of just doing well one day and not the other. With that being said I wish you the best with your business and congratulations on your first 4 clients.

I'm actually hoping 'R1-David' has a reasonable explanation for this, as the rest of the website seems to be very nicely designed and looks like a lot of hard work has gone into it.

    'What kind of trickery' indeed

I am waiting on the "Our designer did it"

He does state under his profile, "He likes coding" so I wonder how much coding he enjoys!

I agree the site is nice, but ...

    I like his Occupation:

He has a lot to learn then

He is 21 years old and seems to be starting out, so I wonder what his mighty explanation will be, once he comes online and all.

To my knowledge basically, its the kids that are starting to think they can "run a hosting business" and get away with stealing designs and such.

On the kid point, I'm actually a year younger than he is (supposed to be as mentioned on this thread). Matthew and I run a kosher business that doesn't steal bits from other companies.

He'll most probably be out of business on the strength of receiving 2 DMCA notices in the space of an hour today.

Well Age doesnt matter But to the law to have a registered business it is.

And good eye for sending the DCMA notices.

@David, I would suggest perhaps making your own nav bar and site next time

Now makes you wonder if it is a legitimate LLC

I am not sure how the US operates on these, or how you could find out but surely is a curious matter.

It most probably is. I'm not located in the US (as you can see from my post info) and I know you're able to incorporate from the age of 18 in most states. You can certainly incorporate from 18 in the UK, but I had businesses before my 18th birthday as that age limit was only introduced recently.
