If you do not have any sysadmin experience than I will suggest a managed VPS. On a managed VPS you do not have to do anything. When you need something to be done just send an email to the hosting company support dept. with a reguest that you need something to be done and they will do that for you.

Thanks "LVPSHosting" for your reply. Will hosting company charge additional something for their services in "Managed VPS" on my demand rather than their plan price?

Providers who offer "Fully managed VPS" will include it in the price.

Keep in mind that the definition of "Managed" will vary a lot from one provider to another. A couple of questions you might ask:
  • Are system updates proactive or reactive? ie. do they keep the system updated regularly without involving you (proactive) or do they wait for you to request something (reactive).
  • Does the management service require you to use a particular control panel?
  • Exactly what applications do they / don't they support? ie. linux system, apache, mysql, php, user applications (eg. Wordpress) etc.

Thats the big diference, providers are now saying its managed when its not even one single bit, more of then are "reactive" then "proactive" and if something goes wrong its nothing to do with them.

They will include the price of managing the VPS, there won't be any additional cost particularly for you. It seems most have a plan like managed VPS and price is included .

Thumbs up Managed Vs Unmanaged Hosting; an Overview

Many people are constantly looking for the need and opportunity to upgrade and evolve their systems and to increase and enhance the services they already have. There are various factors to look at when choosing between managed and unmanaged web hosting. When it comes to this situation, there are plenty of choices to choose from which can provide various solutions. When purchasing such options it is important to do thorough research and planning and here many factors can come into mind. These include cost, service benefits, providers, power supplies and the likes.

Resources:

When it comes to managed and unmanaged hosting plans, unmanaged VPS hosting costs infinitely less than a managed VPS plan. This is solely because the person buying the plan, which will be either you or your company, is wholly accountable for the supervision of the services that are provided on the server along with maintaining all kinds of additional software. This brings down the cost element and so can be a beneficial fact. For websites that require their services to be online 24 hours a day, it becomes necessary and vital for companies to compile a team that is dedicated to the overseeing of the server the whole time the website is online. This can be called a downside and is seen as a disadvantage since it becomes a chore to constantly monitor services. This can also add extra cost to the whole package since most of the time these companies are not only understaffed but also have problems when it comes to finances. They don’t have extra cash just lying around and it becomes difficult to hire more people for such tasks. Moreover, the issue about qualified prospective employees also becomes a hassle and a burden.

When you are in such a setting that the server you require needs to be utilized for the purpose of a web server that has to stay online 24/7, getting a managed hosting plan will definitely be a good idea. In such situations, a managed hosting plan is not only a better option but will definitely pay off in the long run as well. Purchasing such a plan also means reviewing your needs and requirements and then checking to see whether your chosen plan fulfils those needs and requirements.

Managed services

The services you are looking to have managed should cover security issues and areas, balancing consignments and load that is put onto the server, constant monitoring and supervision, and updating the system. These are some of the few services that can be provided by a managed plan and it is apparent that the benefits are better than those of an unmanaged plan. In addition to this, the cost of this entire plan is also not very high and can be afforded by many. Reasonable and affordable rates can be found in the market for such plans mainly because of the fact that information centers categorize your organization into the mass of systems they systematize and manage simultaneously. Managed web hosting plans are the choice for almost everything and everyone except gaming and web servers that are needed for personal benefit and use.

Others have explained the differences in terms of support, but I'll give you my perspective on comparing prices for the two. At first, it seems like unmanaged is a lot cheaper, but for my needs, where I require cPanel/WHM for my customers, I found that a managed VPS that included cPanel/WHM was fairly close in price to the unmanaged variety.

There are a lot of options available for a VPS in terms of managed vs unmanaged, and also disk space, memory, and processor allotment.

I chose mine based on memory first (I host several busy Wordpress blogs and a couple of forums), then processor, and lastly, disk space. I went with 1GB RAM and it works great; others have told me that 512MB would be OK, but the minimum. If I recall, you have a busy Wordpress site.

One of the high-rated suppliers here was offering a good deal in the VPS forum, and after trying a shared solution at a large hosting company, I decided to go with the self-described small company (MDDHosting) because I could email the owner and get a response. I like small better than big because service is usually better. And I've been happy so far.

Managed Dedicated Server will be more costly than Managed VPS Server. So I want to go for Managed VPS Server.

CMBPF, thanks for your reply. I tried but most of the company's dedicated hosting package is more costly. If you are familiar with someone then please share details here.

As mentioned above the definition of "managed" differs from host to host. Some it might be exceptional, others, nothing more than an OS re-install. You need to ask the host you are interested in to detail their definition of managed for you.
