Quality Host - Any recommendations?

I have a wordpress site heavy on images and it seems my current host can not handle my cpu usage as well as my traffic. They are able to load a secondary site that is soley html but not my mysql wordpress site. I have been maxing out at their cpu usage several times a day so that may also be the cause of such a slow load time (10-20seconds)

I'm looking for a new host that is fairly established and can delivery mysql requests fast so my site doesn't take 15seconds to load.

Here is my current monthly usage:
Total Disk Spae: ~1gig
Monthly Bandwidth: ~90gigs (I'm expecting >100gigs next month)
MYSQL DB: 4
Sites: 2

Traffic Information
Visitors: ~20,000
Page Views: ~50,000

Monthly Income
Ads: ~$15-$20 (Been trying to make it higher...)
VIP/Membership/Donations: $0

So yeah, is it possible to find a host that can serve ~100-150gigs of transfer a month for $10-$15? Also, what type of hosting should I use? I'm currently on a shared hosting account. Really new to this hosting business!

Also! I would like to pay monthly and if not possible, 3-4months max.

Thank you for any help! If any additional information is needed, just ask!

That's not even that much traffic you're getting. Try and get a VPS to start with.

On the other hand: is your Wordpress optimized for "high" traffic? Try and optimize the requests to the database and you'll notice a huge speed improvement.

Most hosts have a cpu limit, such as hostgator and other big companies. Just look at the TOS. I myself dont see it being a problem.

Most of wp sites using wp super cache plugin to reduce their usage of bandwith/cpu. Do you have one installed?

With WordPress, I highly recommend you install the following 2 plugins to reduce your CPU and I/O load on the server, as well as improve your page load times.

HyperCache
DB Cache Reloaded

If you have trouble with server load after those two plugins are installed, then you should consider a VPS (and keep those installed).

HyperCache generally gets better results, and is a lot simpler for the end user to configure. It is what we recommend for all our hosting clients.

Most hosts will suspend or terminate if you use over 25% of cpu for more than 3 minutes.

I'm currently using super cache and I was planning to upgrade it to the newer W3 Total Cache. Tbh, I don't think it is the most optimized site as I'm running quite a few plugins (27) but my other wordpress site uses only 2 and loads just as slow...

I'll try the two you talked about, brent.

Thanks for the tips so far!

When your saying (25%), what do you mean by 25%? The number shown in Cpanel? Mine hovers from 15% to 75% in cpanel. I thought it was my allocated portion.

25% of a single core of a CPU is high usage on a shared server, so most hosts do not tolerate that for long.

For example, if you have 500 sites on one server, which would be a common, not-oversold server, and one site is using up 25% of the CPU, it is unfair to the rest of the shared customers.

In those situations, it is usually best to upgrade to a small VPS, as you can use up 100% of your allocated resources and no one should give you any grief about it.

You should be able to find a decent shared host within your budget. Please note hosts who offer unlimited space/bandwidth will have certain cpu/memory limits in place. It is better to find a host that offers realistic plans. Have a look at the Shared Hosting Offers section:

Yeah that can be a problem...On the left hand pane in HostGator's cPanel control panel, it's constantly monitoring your processes that are running on your account. Most hosts don't do this though, usually only the bigger companies. I personally like JustHost. They don't have an CPU usage limits (correct me if I'm wrong) and have pretty decent support except their immediate phone and live chat support is terrible.

This is taken from justhost's TOS

Code:
Resource Usage

User may not:

Use 25% or more of system resources for longer than 90 seconds. There are numerous activities that could cause such problems; these include: CGI scripts, FTP, PHP, HTTP, etc.

Run stand-alone, unattended server-side processes at any point in time on the server. This includes any and all daemons, such as IRCD.

Run any type of web spider or indexer (including Google Cash / AdSpy) on shared servers.

Run any software that interfaces with an IRC (Internet Relay Chat) network.

Run any bit torrent application, tracker, or client. You may link to legal torrents off-site, but may not host or store them on our shared servers.

Participate in any file-sharing/peer-to-peer activities

Run any gaming servers such as counter-strike, half-life, battlefield1942, etc

Run cron entries with intervals of less than 15 minutes

When using PHP include functions for including a local file, include the local file rather than the URL. Instead of include("http://yourdomain.com/include.php") use include("include.php")

While our shared services are suitable for the bulk of our customers, there comes a time for some websites when they are better suited for a larger plan, which allows for more dedicated CPU and memory resources. We reserve the right, in our sole discretion, to discontinue service to any customer with a website or other hosted data that takes up more than 10% of the server resources and/or 10% of the server's CPU. This means that if your website is found to be utilizing more than 10% of the CPU and memory of the service, we reserve the right to take your site offline. If this becomes necessary, you can either upgrade your hosting package, or request a pro-rated refund of the amounts you have paid in advance for the services. Due to the severity of this, and our ability to act quickly to correct these situations to avoid server issues, we will do everything reasonably feasible to provide you with a warning prior to taking your site offline, but we accept no obligation to do so.
INODES

The use of more than 50,000 inodes on any shared account may potentially result in suspension. Accounts found to be exceeding the 50,000 inode limit will automatically be removed from our backup system to avoid overusage. Every file (a webpage, image file, email, etc) on your account uses up 1 inode. Sites that slightly exceed our inode limits are unlikely to be suspended; however, accounts that constantly create and delete large numbers of files on a regular basis, have hundreds of thousands of files, or cause file system damage may be flagged for review and/or suspension. Over time, tens of thousands of messages (or more) build up, eventually pushing the account past our inode limit. To disable your default mailbox, login to cPanel and choose "Mail", then "Default Address", "Set Default Address", and then type in: :fail: No such user here

They actually have a more strict limit.

Ahhh ok. That's something I missed then. Thanks for bringing that up. I'm pretty sure a basic wordpress blog wouldn't use up that much CPU though.

Is your blog images or media files concentrated? Else you will not have such high data transfer. Unless you have a lot of traffics.

You can try on using CDN services for reducing your server CPU load at the same time speeding up the loading speed of the media file.
