Plesk is a Piece of Junk

First, let me begin by saying that I've been a loyal Plesk user for over 6 years. I have always been fairly happy with the software and never really had any issues, until recently.

This new Plesk 10 is a piece of junk. Parallels released this software prematurely. It is plagued with bugs! There are so many problems with it, that I don't have the time to go into detail here about all the problems. Ever since we upgraded to Plesk 10, we've had nothing by problems.

Parallel's support is an absolute JOKE. Their support forums are hidden away on their site so nobody can find them. They have post moderation turned on and every single post that is made that reflects any kind of negativity is deleted. They are impossible to contact and they virtually don't give a rat's behind about their customers anymore. I am extremely appalled by how they handle their customer service these days.

Needless to say, I will not be installing parallels software on any more of my boxes.

9 was crap, 10 was suppose to be better?

The company is so stupid they gave us a plesk 10 license prior to 10 even being out for use.

Im sorry for using such vague language but what else can you say that won't offend those that are clinically mentally challenged.

I don't recall their forums being hard to find but I would have to assume trying to submit a ticket to them directly may be as I don't recall ever even see'ing that.

Plesk is junk. Im surprised you've been happy with them for this long.

Yeah I miss modernbill - WHMCS does the job though as would ClientExec although I haven't touched that in a million years.

Plesk 10 -- Loaded with unwanted things which makes it slow and confusing.. Rather cpanel is buggy but always one step ahead with new released when ever they come out.

I have been using Plesk for a few years now. I have used v7 to v9.2, and I find Plesk a lot better (I have just started using cPanel/WHM ), especially if you want to make some change that is not supported by the control panel.

And yes, I agree that it is very slow. Another thing that I don't like about Plesk is that they don't support upgrading PHP and MySQL from the standard version coming with the OS.

Plesk was one of the fine/best controlpanel until Plesk 8 and to 8.6.

After they bought it from swsoft, Parallels have released some worst controlpanel for windows.

As I am very good in troubleshooting with plesk, I am ok with thir bugs & issues.

I tried their 9 & 10, I immediately made an adamant request to our datacenter to provide a plesk 8 license.

For more than 3+ years i am still using Plesk 8.6, Left no choice by parallels to upgrade .

Nah, Plesk 9 is the best Plesk version to date in both Linux and Windows and I can see this since using Plesk since version 2 in 2001.

But I'm not going anywhere near Plesk 10 even with a barge pole.

Parallels are making a habit of destroying every piece of software they take over (ModernBill, Helm, Ensim etc).

Oh well, as long as they keep spporting Plesk 9 until Plesk 11 comes out. We still have a bunch of Plesk 8 servers as many clients are happy with that and Plesk 8.6 was ungodly stable (the most stable I've ever seen). But the Plesk 9 reseller level, overselling options and FastCGI integration make Plesk 9 a must. But I intend on missing Plesk 10 entirely and hope the next version brings it back to something that resembles Plesk.

I can vehemently confirm that Plesk is one of the worst control panels out there. I've been using one for over 2 years and it still takes me minutes just to find my way around. Completely unintuitive. For example, HostGator's CP is as easy to use as Windows XP's control panel and I absolutely have no problems with it.

I've liked plesk up until Plesk 10.

They've totally screwed up Plesk 10 in my opinion. I will continue to use Plesk 9 for when we need stuff or cPanel. They turned Plesk 10 into what Modernbill was. Complex to figure out. Stuff in the wrong places. However unlike modernbill, It seems to work for the customer I put on it. (Only one) I feel sorry for the customer tho. Im thinking about moving him back to 9.

Parallels. What were you thinking?

I will say that since the first Plesk version I ever used was 7 that I always feel each version is a bit harder to use, since I learned on that one but I don't think 10 is entirely terrible. I used the 30 day trial on my dev server to try it out, I don't need a panel on the dev server so I didn't buy a license for it but I used it mainly to see if I wanted to upgrade the production boxes. It is a big change for sure, I did have some trouble finding things I am used to. I preferred 8 myself and avoided 9 entirely until about 2 months ago due to having no need to upgrade really. I really wanted to chime in mainly though just to say that I have always had really good experiences with the tech support at Parallels and almost anytime i even mention Plesk on Twitter I get a reply. So I am not sure about the bugs or problems you are having but I would say to give them a try and see.

The guy I usually talk to over there is named Zac and I have given his email out a few times before and he has never minded so if you are having some tech problems still I would say to get in touch with him. His email is zcohn@parallels.com.

I don't even hold the Plesk licenses for our company boxes, they are owned by Rackspace. I just prefer to talk to Plesk guys directly and they always try to help me out quickly.

Any time I do get frustrated with Plesk though I just think back to using CPanel/WHM I never could get used to it so I guess I am biased but I would at least try to contact Zac and see if he can help or can get you in contact with someone in tech support.

Hahaha! I remember when my brother took me to his job one day when I was first getting into hosting, and he had to deal with plesk support a lot because clients were complaining so much. There was even a ticket that said "I literally hate plesk". You would think that a company that large wouldn't outsource their support and be terrible at that. In all, it is a piece of junk.

Plesk user for a couple of years. Really hated it when Plesk 10 showed up, but got used to it, somehow.
