You could do this for verfication. Many dedicated server companies do this (used to) as well. Send a copy but over the last 4 digits of the card. Also cover the last 3 digits (CVV) on the back side. Dont allow the entire card to be copied over otherwise you might see fraud usage of the card. Buycpanel is trusted but even the most trusted can be hacked.

Ive never had this happen to me before. The most I have been asked for is a ID scan or a phone call. Wonder if all this hassle with them is worth it...

dont give it, and inform visa of what they asked.

its against the terms of visa to do that. also, its illegal in various countries, especially in europe.

it doesnt have to be illegal specifically everywhere like it is in eu. visa's own terms mandate that you dont store cvv in any way.

From VisA I found the following:

When is it acceptable to store Card Verification Value 2 (cvv2)?

It is never acceptable for Acquirers, merchants, or service providers to retain cvv2, which consists of the last three digits printed on the signature panel of all Visa Cards, subsequent to transaction authorization. The Visa Operating Regulations prohibit such storage, whether encrypted or unencrypted.

usa.visa.com/download/business/accepting_visa/ops_risk_management/cisp_FAQ.pdf

So I think it's ok to store cvv2 numbers as long as you delete them after you process the transaction... Anybody know if this is exactly this means?
in addition, storing any kind of credit card data in an unencrypted format is illegal, according to PCI in usa. u.k. has a similar law.

http://usa.visa.com/merchants/risk_m....html#anchor_5

visa itself requires pci compliance. so, if you are working with visa, you have to oblige with their terms.

I am not sure why everyone is saying do NOT do it. If you need the service and you have an authentic order - JUST DO IT. You can always cancel the card and get a new number at anytime.

I know it probably isn't much of an issue, but I do not feel same with this company now. They have already locked me out of their support system. I have asked them to terminate my account and have notified them that what they are doing is against regulations.

Intelhost,

Sorry to here about the billing issue you are having with our company. The fraud risk associated with your order is extremely high due to several factors. I'd be happy to help verify your order, if you are still interested in service. Also, I'm not sure how you are locked out of our support system, if you could give me some more specific information on that issue I'd be happy to look into it further.

I dont understand what would have marked me as "high risk". I am no longer interested in your service. My account no longer exists in on your website. In addition, my IP is now flagged from your system. It will no longer allow me to do many actions.

I'd be happy to go over those individual risk factors with you over PM if you'd like. I'd also be happy to verify your orders with you in personally the future if you are interested in purchasing a product again.

I would be happy to know what happened. I have already placed an order with a different company and my license has been approved.
