A warning to hosts looking at IDT/Winstar:
Since IDT purchased winstar, they no longer have 24/7 staff at some of their datacenters!!!!! We had to wait 3 hours for someone to drive down to the datacenter which is 15 mintues away from us to let us in on thanksgiving. Then they had a guard reboot a server, and he didnt know anything and rebooted another one of our servers in our rack that wasnt supposed to be rebooted.
And now, their network has gone down hill, they had 3 AC units in their NY switching station blow, since 3am its been going up and down, their switches and router temps are in the mid to high 100 degree range! They say it will be a few hours before its fixed. This is the 2nd major outage - they've had dozens of smaller 1 minute outages. STAY AWAY FROM THEM. I went to look over my contract with them, there is not even an uptime guarantee!! I called them to tell them that we want an SLA added or we will cancel the contract - waiting for a call back. I Got a class c of IPs finally and its been about 3-4 weeks since i asked to have the IPs use my name servers for reverse authority, i still have not heard back about it. The only reason we are sticking with them is because we got a very sweet deal but we're already on the phone with other providers in NY/NJ to get pricing. STAY AWAY FROM THEM~!!!!
