book about linux hosting (servers)

Hi,
I am running a small web design company, I know many programming languages and some necessary things about hosting. However, I have now a big client and I have some problems with understanding some issues with managing server for a big website. I don really know what to pay attention to. I had recently problem with server running out of the memory, too big suphp log made the servee down etc. I also dont really know how to prepare the server for a big traffic.

Can you suggest me some good book? I am IT educated but not an expert.

Sounds to me like you really need to partner with a good hosting company that can provide you with the technical aspect of your hosting needs, so you can concentrate on the design aspect.

I doubt you'll find what you are looking for in a book.

Perhaps you can try reading this books, Understanding Linux Web Hosting by Don Denoncourt & Barry Kline, might help you and aside from this better seek an expert regarding this matter.

I think the best way for you to learn, is to setup a virtual machine with a linux distro & by reading up on documentation on the internet, there's plenty around. Once you're on the OS and IF you don't know where to start, break something on purpose & use your current IT skills/resources to fix it. I've been never a been a fan of IT training via books, I've always been a practical person; but I guess this comes down to personal preference.

Good luck!

This isn't the kind of thing that can be learned from a book.

Lookout for things like making sure your server has enough bandwidth, memory and processing power.

You can check things bandwidth utilization and if your at 95% you obviously need to upgrade the speed of your servers.

If you need more ram / space buy more!

You will need to make sure you keep the server secure by installing the latest patches etc, oh also keeping backups of the clients data would be a good point to make in case the server messes up

http://www.cyberciti.biz/ would be a good place to look round
