Virtualmin support for Lighttpd

Is any available?

I'm looking to use Lighttpd as my webserver for my clan's forums, because Apache is just starting to be too slow.

I use Virtualmin to manage BIND DNS Server because zone files are just too daunting for me atm.

Is there a way I could easily set up bind without messing things up?

You could host your DNS elsewhere? Many domain registrar's provide DNS hosting for free, your VPS provider may also run their own DNS servers?

If you don't need other features of Virtumin, Cherokee is a nice alternative 'fast' webserver with comprehensive web interface for configuring sites and deploying web applications/scripts.

You can disable Apache in Virtualmin. Then Virtualmin will not look for or attempt to manage Apache. That'll allow you to independently install Lighttpd and manually setup/configure your website.

Does Lighttpd interact differently with Sendmail/BIND/Postfix than Apache?

Can't imagine why it would. Your webserver doesn't really 'interact' with mail/dns services. Web applications you run might interact with those services -- by sending an email for example. But that happens the same regardless whether you web application is running on Apache or Lighttpd.

Alright, thanks. Had another question though.. Lighttpd gets $_SERVER['REMOTE_HOST'] in weird way for me. It puts like fff: in front of the actual IP. How can I change this?

I doubt if Lighttpd is doing anything different. The ffff bit is ipv6 mode for an ipv4 address. It could be that that is what the remote host is returning, or it could be a PHP configuration -- dunno

That's in the PHP configuration. You should just copy from the old php.ini to the new one

It actually wasn't.

In lighttpd.conf,
## Use ipv6 only if available.
#include_shell "/usr/share/lighttpd/use-ipv6.pl"

That line was uncommented. Once I commented it out, the problem was fixed.
