Thread: Is Bandwidth getting cheaper?

For the past few months, actually a more like a year I have been wondering whether to develop this project I have in mind, without giving too much way it's similar to egroups/listbot, I've got the plans in my head and the knowledge to do. However the price of bandwidth doesn't seem to be getting cheaper infact it's getting higher, co-location centers which were offering 10mbps/100mbps traffic to your server, are now capping bandwidth from .5mbps. Without going into the discussion of "unlimited" services, something I realise is not possible, is there any chance of bandwidth getting cheaper in the USA. Other countries, such as here in the UK seem to getting cheaper but still a lot more expensive than the USA, but at least it's coming down. Until such a date when bandwidth < $2gb then this project doesn't seem possible. Is this likely to happen soon? Well something's gonna have to happen especially when everyone will have ASDL and want to view multimedia sites.
BTW, Hosting Companies: Anyone had an experiences with the major colocation companies?
