Cheapest Quad Xeon, 4GB Ram, SAS Raid - $200 ??

    Hi,
I've seen this high spec server for what appears to be a really good price. Haven't been able to find better. Is there any US host or anywhere in fact that is similar? I've heard the bad stories about Webfusion but as I will manage everything myself it won't matter too much.http://www.webfusion.co.uk/dedicated...ated-server-3/

Can't really say I like their setup too much... Only OS is Ubuntu, and they dont really define "unlimited" bandwidth.

What I meant was, is it 10mpb/s or a 100mbp/s unmetered.

    Well I foundIntel core2 e7300 2.66ghz dualcore, 4gb ram, 1x 250gb $99
    2 cores at 2.66ghz, newer 45nm chips +$15 for e8400 3ghz cpu
    4GB RAM (+15 for 8gb)
1x 250gb (Other sizes in stock)
$99 with 10mbps dedicated unmetered BW or 1TB over 100mbps
    OR supercharge the server:
    $150 with 8GB ram, 4x 73GB 10k RPM SAS w/ raid 10 (super fast disk I/O)
    andIntel Quadcore Q9550, 8GB ram, 1x 250gb 8x 73GB 10k SAS w/ RAID 10
    Core2 Quad Q9550 – 4x 2.83ghz w/ 12MB Cache (double the q9300)
    8GB Memory
    8x 73gb 10k rpm SAS drives w/ hardware raid 10 +$80 for 16x 73gb sas drives!!
    1x 250gb backup drive
WOW $240 with 1TB of premium BW over 100mbps or 10MBPS Unmetered
from WebNX which would give me good performance for around the $200 mark. Can't see anything else really. By the time I do custom configurations on the cheaper servers we're looking more like $300/month.

Ubuntu is fine with me. I can reinstall any other distro anyways. Just looking at the hardware specs versus price.
    Thanks

You might want to get a server from softlayer and use the double ram/hard drive coupon which will give you a similiar server you are looking for around 200.

Even softlayer uses unlimited to describe their unmetered connections :p.

Thanks. Tried that but it seems to be more like $500-$600 per month when you add 4GB ram and 2 SAS drives.
Guess the WF deal is hard to beat.

    Looks good

I was always after cheap Dedicated Server, but at the end, there's always trouble. Cheap is not what you should look for, but Value for your money will last better.
That server package looks attractive. Though im sure you can get cheaper for unmanaged servers.

If you interested in that higher end of a system usually the savings ends up at about 8-10months with a buy and colo VS renting dedi.
