Do you need US location? If not, cloud.bg has a very affordable service in Europe.

The website of this company "Gigenetcloud" looks very good and they have a good comparison page. However they claim something which looks a little bit pretentious - "Fastest Cloud Server Deployment on the GLOBE! Deploy a server in under 1 minute!"... but it might not be far from truth. I also like the idea to use centralized storage. Our approach is the same!

Many of our Linux and Windows deployments that have disk allocations of less than 30GB are deployed within 1 minute. The longest we have seen it take to deploy a machine is 10 minutes.

Great to hear that. Tell me about the Windows solution. There is not load-balancing of Windows based instances, isn't it?

Its most definitely possible to load balancing with Windows on our solutions. It requires some work with virtual IPs and a little know how to get it all operational, but it is most definitely doable.

I would like to note that the bandwidth pricing on this review is a little outdated. We currently charge the following.

    Inbound: 8c
    Outbound: 15c

    Thanks

It's also worth mentioning that NFS space is also available for GigeNETCloud if you need additional disk space without more CPU/RAM.

Also each VM comes with an internal IP and all internal traffic (10Gbps) is free across their whole network so if you have a VM and a dedicated server with them they can communicate internally for free.

Now to be fair, I will also provide some information that wasn't disclosed in the first post. GigeNET handles their cloud IP allocation in VLANs so the cost is 140 credits ($4/month) for 4 IPs with only 1 usable. For information on why it is done this way it has been explained numerous times on their forum. I don't know how the other providers handle their IPs but I figured it was only fair for people figuring out pricing.

    Hi,

I like your offering. However I want to use my virtual servers for testing and hence they dont need to be running all the time. Will I be charged if my machines are not running. Can I backup my machine somewhere, delete them, and then recreate them to save all day charging ?

    Thanks

I'm pretty sure anyone charging 0.07 cents per hour would be a fantastic example of "You pay for what you get."

No problem at all. It's an easy mistake to make, I just wanted to make sure everyone was clear.

I've heard some good things about RackSpace. I'm particularly looking forward to Cascade.
