Question Computer Specs. How much is it worth?

    Hi,
I am thinking of getting this computer with the following specs:
    Pentium 3 Processor 733mhz
    15GB Hard Drive
    128 MB of ram.
    DVD-ROM
    Floppy Drive
    Network Card
    3 PCI Slots
    One printer port
    (25-pin parallel, EPP/ECP)
    One 15-pin SVGA port
    One DB-9 serial port
    Two PS/2 ports
    (for a keyboard & mouse)
    Two USB ports
    Audio outputs
    Microphone input port
    Sound Card
    Video Card
    Comes with keyboard and mouse.

Charging $230.00 US for it. Good price?

Also there is a dvd burner for $110.00 US. Its a dual dvd-r and dvd+r burner. What do you guys think about that?

    Feedback please!

For $230, it's a good deal in my books. Also, what type of sound card and videa card does it have?

All I know is a 16 bit sound card.

Personally, I wouldn't pay that much for that system. Probably $200 tops is the highest I would go. You can't do very much with a 15 Gb drive these days. I'd pay less if it was an eMachines computer, who makes this sytem?

Yeh, probably $200 tops, it ain't the best... And PCs aren't overly expensive now... Only a 700mhz.

why not just visit your local walmart and pickup thier cheapest HP Desktop, you'd be much better off, and it will come with a Monitor...

Basically double the price, and head over to Dell.com and get yourself a brand new pc, complete with a 17 inch monitor.

They have a celery 2.4ghz, for $500 - $100 MIR ($400 + shipping) right now. Includes free upgrades to 256 ram & DVD-ROM/CD-RW combo drive.

I wouldn't trust a comp like that with burning DVDs. With a computer like that I can see one little thing happening and the entire system going to pieces while burning. I could barely burn a full CD at times with a 933Mhz without it freezing up and requiring me to restart the burn process.

    Regards,
    Patrick

If you can't burn a full cd, on a 933mhz box, you need to look at the box. There seems to be issues with it. My Old 200Mhz box with 64 megs of ram can burn a cdr @ 8x, so your 933mhz should be able to burn a cdr without freezing.

My old 701 MHZ P3 could burn a cd just fine at 52x, I'd have to say look at your box if you can't burn one on a 933 mhz.

$50, simply because it's not really worth buying.

I'm sure I could get a similar system for $100, maybe even less. There are plenty of people that want to get rid of the old cr*p they have laying around they can't play their new games on. Most of them will be glad to get anything for those systems, just to get rid of them. It's not like there's a very big market for them.

I'd also join in and advise you to spend double that amount you said they were asking and get a half decent desktop. You may only want it for burning DVD's now, but you might soon have other needs for it and if you get a decent system off the bat, you'll be happier in the long run.

P.S. Wish we could get P4 2.6 GHZ Dell's over here for $400. I spent more than that on loose parts during my last upgrade spree on my desktop and the parts weren't even top of the range.
