While I love Python because of its OO Style, syntax and layout etc, it is just too hard to deploy a quick Python app on a server. Thats why I prefer to use it for backend stuff that doesn't require a web interface.
Have you looked at the django project? I'm playing with it right now and it does solve this 'web interface' problem quite nicely.

Java & PHP. I know C++ very well (about 4 years of experience with it) but I prefer Java for most tasks because it hides programming details, practically allowing me to concentrate on business rules instead of programming details.

    Ruby on Rails

    from www.rubyonrails.org:

Rails is a full-stack, open-source web framework in Ruby for writing real-world applications with joy and less code than most frameworks spend doing XML sit-ups

I use PHP and C++ on a daily basis, but my recent love has been Ruby. Not just because of Ruby on Rails, but it just seems that Ruby is really very flexible and works more in the way I think. I do want to give Python a try though sometime.

I have a lot more fun in Java these days than anything else -- the dream team of Hibernate/JBoss/Tapestry/JUnit/Log4j/Dom4j/JavaMail/SWT/etc.

Eclipse has also ruined all other development tools for me!

I still end up spending about 50% of my time in PHP, which is fine -- unless someone says something like "PHP-GTK" or "PHP-driven webserver" within earshot.

C stands for Confused.. at least for me. Did some basic Perl coding for making chat bots and it seemed easy to understand. Doing PHP now mainly for my web developing and I like it the best.
