Please help me install VMWare ESXi on my server, some VMFS3 failur issue

    Hi guys,

I have got a small server for development/testing purpose. I want to run 2-3 x86 guest on it. So I asked my host to install VMWare ESXi on it. But somehow they are unable to install it. I am writing hardware and issue details which they provided me. If you people have encountered similar issue and have any idea about the same, PLEASE HELP ME

    Hardware:
    Intel D510MO (http://www.intel.com/products/deskto...O-overview.htm)
    500 GB SATA
    4 GB RAM

    Issue:
VMFS3 failure on every boot no matter what. Tried disabling the NIC but still same.
(I had read on one forum that some NIC are not compitable so I had asked them to try disabling it)

    Thanks...

If you just have a couple of VMs for dev/test, it might be better to install VMware Server on CentOS. We are using it in production boxes without any problems.

    Thanks for looking into this.

I am totally new to this field. Can you answer some questions so I have clear idea abotu this?
    1) With VMWare server, can guest OS utilize more than 1 core?
    2) How do you manage VMWare server? using vSphere client or anything else?

I think this requirement is for 64bit guest OS. It runs fine without Intel VT for 32bit Guest OS. Performance wouldn't be great, but that's fine, it's just for development/testing, not for live server.

    1) You can allocate 2 cores for a VM.
    2) There is a web interface/command line util for managing the server.

It runs fine with 32bit host and without VT-x. If you had VT-x you can run 64bit guests even if your host is 32bit OS.
