    * Webmasters: Where do you got your photos from?

    Hello,
Just for curiousity I made this poll, to see where you as webmaster got the images from that you include in your work.
I am not talking about backgrounds etc. but pure photos.
This may be useful for me, but also for other webmasters.
Also I am curious how you webmasters arrange things with copyright.

    Greetings,
    Frash

First of all, this thread needs to be moved to the Website & Graphics Design forums.

Google image search results should never be used in designs or on websites for legal reasons, unless you investigate the source of the image further and ensure that no copyrights are attached and/or you have written permission.

And your poll is really limited in options As for myself, I get most of my photos from stock exchange, http://www.sxc.hu/

www.sxs.hu is the best in my opinion - free, and mostly without copyrights

http://www.codingforums.com/showthre...threadid=20176 - that lists a lot of sources for stock photos.

Also, Google isn't really something intended for photo's, not even the image search. You could be infringing copyrights using images from there.

Here are bunch of links to image sites which I had saved on one of my notepads. This was posted in an earlier thread which is buried somewhere which I can't find, so I don't take credit for obtaining all of these links or for the commentary.

http://www.iStockphoto.com/ - one of the cheapest high-quality stock sites... first download is free, then each additional is 50 cents
http://www.freeimages.co.uk/ - free stock photos, not sure about servers, but they have a decent tech/electronic section
    http://free-stock-photos.com/ - not too bad..
    http://www.sxc.hu/ - one of my fav's
    http://www.free-foto.com/ - nothing special
http://www.deviantart.com/ - has a section of user supplied stocks.. most royalty free, but I'd check with the user first.
    http://www.morguefile.com/ - decent selection
http://www.freeimages.com/photos/ - not much computer related.. and smaller size images
    http://www.amgmedia.com/freephotos/ - small selection
http://www.freefoto.com/ - nice selection, free for non-commercial use.. check the business category for techie images
http://www.stockphotowarehouse.com/ - Pretend you don't see the banners and god-awful frames all over, and it's a decent resource
http://geekphilosopher.com/MainPage/photos.htm - once again, get past the banners and it's alright
    http://www.freephotosforyou.co.uk/ - nothing computer related
    http://www.barrysfreephotos.com/ - small file sizes
    http://www.stock.b-man.dk/ - basically just different
http://www.photo.net/stock/ - most are copyrighted, so contact the guy before using any commercially.
http://www.freep.com/photos/index.htm/ - mostly press photos that have model releases already.. mostly just people pics
    http://gimp-savvy.com/PHOTO-ARCHIVE/ - majority are copyright-free
    http://webshots.com/ - most are copyrighted
http://www.photo.net/ - decent quality and variety, some copyrighted
http://www.imageafter.com/ - Another high quality site with a large variety
    http://www.bigfoto.com/ - mostly copyright free
http://aarinfreephoto.com/ - might find something in the home/office categories
    http://www.getthepixel.com/ - no copyrights

www.gettyimages.com by far has the best collection - quite expensive though compared to other services (but worth it).
