You answered your own question here - Having a re-seller account with a host is a far cry from running your own server.
@OP - Yes, lots of choices out there.
Given you have 2 reseller accounts and several accounts within them, the best way forward for you would be to find a new reseller, grab their smallest account and migrate 2 or 3 sites from each of your current accounts to test the water - If it all goes well after a month or so, look at moving the whole lot in. This way, you are not putting yourself at the mercy of an unknown (to you).CPanel Shared and Reseller Hosting, OpenVZ VPS Hosting. West Coast (LA) Servers and Nodes

For $60 a month and hosting a few websites, you should be getting stellar service. You should be able to get much better for half that cost.

:-o $60/month is a decent budget. You could be looking at the more premium hosting providers with 50gb to 80gb.
Contact the sales department before you order anything to check responses and their attitude

Even a small size company will be much better than HostGator. Their support and service is annoying. Check WebHostingBuzz, they are much better than HG.

HostGator is not the best but the translation issue isn't caused by HostGator. You should check reseller hosting offers section.

Thanks the translation issue was caused by my recent trip to Mexiczo. I didn't want this thread to be hijacked with these details. Thanks for all your input.
My end goal: I have up $100 month to spend on a good hosting provider. $60 would be my choice
- I am a graphic designer and I host sites for a few of my clients 20-40 sites. I like to have control over all the sites
- I bill them through my own Freshbooks system- do I need a reseller account?
- I'm angry that HG defaults on 30min support chat and the spam is getting brutal
- I've got a new client that wants high security and dependable support
- sites are all Wordpress and I plan on growing by 1-2 sites a month
- none of the sites have heavy traffic.
So far I've looked at Eleven2, liquid web, site5 and a couple others. I'm confused as to whether I need a reseller account, a VPS or a dedicated server. I'm not a coder and I am very busy so performing webmaster duties is not what I should be doing.
I want to make the next move to a host that I can have a long lasting releastionship with and as an affiliate promote their services.
There are a lot of very wise web masters and hosting experts on this board. What say you??

I'm not going to say much right now, but the attached image may.
I was previously with Eleven2, and switched to a new hosting around Sept 5/6.
Attached is a Pingdom chart showing my downtime for the past month.
Red at the bottom of the graph means the site was down from multiple locations. The dark blue vertical line shows when I switched to a new provider.
(Just a note, the two cases of downtime showing after my move to a new host were a result of me taking the server offline for configuration. In both cases the downtime was only 1-2 minutes.)

Which host should you choose
I have been using host gator for the past few years and have recently noticed the exact things you are talking about. About 2 months ago I jumped ship and went over to in-motion hosting for all my websites and re seller account... will never turn back.
I am not affiliated with in-motion this is just an honest review. Their shared hosting accounts run ssd drives and I have noticed a giant increase in my word press page load times since switching.
Prices are about the same as host gator and so far I am way more impressed with their services.

You can look at reseller plans provided by BuyVM. They are budget friendly.
Also, I believe Turnkey Internet, StableHost, Hawk Host are good reseller providers.█|||RosenHost | Budget friendly EU and US located web Hosting solutions since 2009
