How many users do you think a 768MB VPS can handle?
I should have asked this question before I bought my VPS. But how many forum users do you think a 768MB VPS can handle before it crashes? I ended up going with HOST Gator and their managed VPS service. So far my website is loading like lighting compared to the shared hosting plan i was on.

It really varies for each user. Every user has different usages. Say they all use SQL I would say between 75-150 before your server starts getting slow.
I just take this from experience I had a server with 512mb and around 55 users, most of them running forums and the server was fine. Hope I helped

Quite a few factors. What type of forum are you running in terms of the software? Any special modules/addons you have installed?

As others have said, pretty much depends on what you're doing on the VPS. If it's say a totally dynamic, unoptimized and database heavy application with no caching, well, not as many.

It depends on how you have optimized your forum. Have you installed a chatbox and other modules as that can also affect the performance of your VPS. I have a 1G ram vps before and it can handle at least 100 to 700+ concurrent users and the load is still below 2 that forum was heavily optimized and it was using nginx

on my vb 3.8.x forum, 10000 daily users are crashing vps with 768 MB RAM on daily basis.
Everyday at some point I have to reboot as cpu usage goes above 25 and hangs the vp server
never had any problems with upto 3000 daily visitors
