I haven't used nor heard of Allied Telesis until now; however a quick search on google referred the following URL which does have some reviews posted.

When i worked for an ISP 2 years ago we used some of they products (routers mostly).
They were cheaper compared with CISCO but...
Good performance and quality but i had problems in finding answers for my questions or solution for different issues.
If you ask me, for a small business they are ok.
You can't compare them with CISCO but overall good enough.

There certainly not as good as cisco alright , but there cheap and reliable and will do a job. Certainly recommended for a small network or company.

Allied has been widely used in the small local ISPs market, at least here in Brazil, for more than 10 years.

I think it is hit or miss. We used with AR-450 product and it was pretty crappy. The dhcp server would randomly lock up requiring a reboot. It would randomly run a process that compacted its flash and if it lost power while it was doing that it could possibily lose the entire contents of its flash (config and OS). We had around 100 of these out in the field and trying to restore these things remotely via console was not a easy task.

These are also pretty big in the UK...from what I've seen, they sell alot of fiber converters and things like that, but don't know the exact quality of that switch.
