Hi i was planning on buying a dedicated server from midphase but i wanted to know if the 1000 gb of bandwidth would be enough for my several CS 1.6 500 FPS servers
    XX(amount of players on)/XX(Slots available)
24/32 500 fps Zombie mod (24 players ALWAYS on)
    24/32 500 fps deathmatch
24/32 500 fps warcraft III mod
and thats it. How much bandwidth would these three servers use?
Thanks for your interest in helping me
    Johnny

If you limit the rates to 20000 I think you'd probably get away with 3 24 slot servers. It would be tight (more than likely though that you'll go over) if they were all full all of the time. But I suspect you'll have the usual day/night peaks so you SHOULD be ok to run the 3 servers on 1000GB

assuming they arent full 24/7 then that should be about fine.

    jNive,
10-15 20 Slot CS servers with only 1000 GB, that seems like you would be stretching your bandwidth extremely thin.
Unless the servers have very minimal use, such as a few players throughout the day, certainly wouldn't be able to host a popular public server with that much bandwidth.
Would recommend seeing if you can get 2000 GB or more from your provider, if not then just limit your number of servers to 2-3 for the first month and see how it goes, then go from there.
Noone can give a definite answer on how much bandwidth would be used by your CS servers.

It certainly depends on popularity of course - example I have a machine running about 15 servers running a combination of JKA, CS, CSS & COD4 and last month it used 280GB total in+out. Now obviously none of those were extremely busy or full 24/7 but people do often overestimate how 'busy' their servers might be. But i would definitely look for either 1.5TB or 2TB if you can as long as it isnt too much more expensive,

I have a dual dualcore AMD opteron servers with 16gb's ram EA that run about 22-25 server on them and i use a max of 600GB bandwidth each month. And we run with 32 player CSS servers full 24/7.

God its been a while since i sold my GSP.. But back then (4 years ago) the average rule of thumb was to allow for 8KB per player slot. and there is a very small chance your servers are going to be full.
For example we would put close to 100 slots on the machines available back then, compared to the servers you can rent today, these were nothing. Our busiest server used maybe 450 GB a month at max.

I'd be interested in finding out what rates you are using on your CSS servers to only use 600GB on 22-25 servers and one of those being a 32 slot always full. When I managed a clan's server they had a 28 slot 66tick server that had an average of 22 players over the 4 months they had the server along with a 10 slot war server. This dedicated machine used 680gb-700gb of bandwidth per month. So either your rates were set pretty low with 33tick or you're a bit out with the full 24/7 figure

If you were using 680GB on a 28 slot servers.. something else was going on inside your server

Well, im sure bandwidth is out of the way now. But what about ram? I only have 4 gb of ram and PLENTY of bandwidth on a Xeon 3220. Would i be able to host at least 160 slots on it? 250-500 FPS?

25000 rates on a 28 slot server and a 10 slot war server. Used constantly with a minimum of 16 players on at all times. I can get bandwidth graphs if needed. But we used 680gb of bandwidth with just 2 servers. We had everything set at as high a quality as possible (within reason) and that's what we used

What would be the rates that would give normal gameplay and use less bandwidth and CPU resources? I have 10 tb of bandwidth and i want to host at least 10 servers. 500 FPS each.

If you can make 10 servers push 10TB of bandwidth I would be pretty amazed, you shouldn't cross that threshold regardless of rates (I don't feel like crunching numbers but 10TB is a lofty mark to cross).

The FPS of your server won't make a difference as to the RAM. How many servers are those 160 slots placed over? Because if it's around 10 that will be absolutely fine

That RAM would be sufficient but I would recommend a powerful Quad Core at the minimum.
    i.e. Core2Quad Q9400, Core2Quad Q9550
or their server "equivalents": Xeon X3350, Xeon X3360

I and many other people run 10 100tick CSS war servers at 512fps on a Q6600 with 4GB RAM, so I will have a guess that the CPU would be fine-ish if they're 33/66 tick servers.
    Best Wishes,
