    Desktop VS Laptop

There are times when I feel so convenient using desktop computers but sometimes I get so bored with it that I'd only want to use the laptop. How about you? Which do you prefer using? Which is better?

For me it's the desktop for gaming, laptop for work, iPad for reading.

    Gets the job done.

    Tough.

Desktop with it's big screen is great for work. But sometimes I copy my work to the laptop and change environment to work. Can't sit in the same place.

Desktops are generally more powerful. Laptops are more convenient though. Also you can move your work around with a laptop. I use a laptop 100% of the time at the moment. But when I move I will be buying a desktop. Get more done in a office/work environment.

Got rid of my last desktop in 2005, and never look back. By the way, this is 2012, right?

Desktop for sure. I only use my laptop when I travel, and I hate it the whole time.

Laptops nowadays can practically do what desktops can do. To save money and prevent impractical spending, I prefer the laptop.

So true. I barely remember having a desktop way back.

My personal preference is for a desktop however I do have a laptop at the moment.
I'm going to be getting a desktop in a month or so as I don't really need to move it around. It's just nice to be able to get a high end desktop for relatively cheap (compared to laptops).
I also need the long hours which my current laptop doesn't enjoy too much

I prefer a desktop, usually cheaper and cools better for identical laptop specs.
Not a fan of typing on a laptop or using the touchpad either. What I can say is if you are working on a ticket or a live chat and need the bathroom, laptops are awesome

A desktop and a tablet or ipad combination would be great. The only thing I dislike about that is having an ipad and an iphone feels like I'd have the same device just larger and the larger one simply can't take calls.

Desktop when I'm working on multiple things at once. For example; tickets, email, editing, publishing new website stuff, etc.

Laptop the other half of the time, as I like to move around during the day while working. These days my laptop is equally powerful as a high end desktop so there's really no compromise except battery life. Rockin' the Asus G55VW-DS71 w/SSD addon. Definitely recommend it to anyone who works via laptop!

I like my desktop. 240GB SSD, 16GB Ram, nice big 24 inch IPS screen. I can get alot of work done.

When I travel I use the desktop. During the day out and about, iPhone.

I am wondering if I could replace my laptop with a Lenovo Win 8 Tablet, just out. Hmmmmm?

I prefer laptop, the last time I've used Desktop was like 4 years ago. My laptop has 4GB RAM, i5 CPU and 500GB disk space. That's enough for me to do my work.

PC is better than laptop, because of the monitor size. It's more convenient, when you have a bigger screen.

On the other hand, handheld devices have their advantages - mobility, above all.

So, the ideal combination would be PC + android tablet/phone...

That's what I do sometimes too. Working in front the same corner of your house is very boring and sometimes uninspiring. So I copy my work to the laptop too and transfer to wherever I am comfortable or is kicking to go.

To be honest, I have retired my laptop and replaced it with an Android Tablet (ASUS Transformer TF101) for most tasks, including posting on WHT. It does a great job, very portable, fast and insane batter life (16 Hours). For heavy tasks I still pull out my laptop/desktop.
