    Stupid question

Why doesnt google of any of those giants use one of the sun or cray supercomputers ? Dont tell me : who says they dont use them.. if the would use them they would not need as many dc s as they use . the biggest sun server was said to be able to host """"""""""the whole internet content""""""""""" many times.

I believe the principle "putting all your eggs in one basket" applies to this..

They use a whole army of servers to host their data. In the end it is usually cheaper to have a bunch of disposable nodes then to have a monster server. Why spend 10k+ on a single server when you could have a load balancer + 5-20 webservers kicking behind it. You can usually get more performance for less cost in setups like that as you arn't paying to pack more horsepower in a relatively small box.

Maintainence of supercomputers is very expensive.

Although I don't think that google need any one of these.

What about routing differences between each of those locations? Google has visitors to reach, and doesn't want to spend a lot of time processing and delivering content.

There's also limits to power as well.

and another thing, if it's big enough to fit the whole internet, hows it going to fit itself in?

This is very much possible but the maintainence and the risks would be increased. If something, let's say a power outage or thunder storm were to hit the computer, google's entire website and services would go down in an instant whereas if they had many datacenters spread out they would be able to have other servers take over if one server went down.
