Just ordered a dedicated server and the IP was blacklisted
Just curious as to how many have ordered a new dedicated server with a company and started out with a blacklisted IP address? We just ordered 2 dedicated servers and both servers IPs are on various blacklists. I have never had such a thing happen with other hosting companies especially when it comes to dedicated servers. I know stuff can happen but this is not a good way to start off a business relationship.
Technical support staff from hosting company said they are working to get the IPs whitelisted and havent had an email answered since early this morning. Im wondering if they gave up on us or are just waiting for whitelist to post positive results. Im also not used to tech support taking 12-24 hours to reply to a trouble ticket.
Is this normal or did I get a bum deal on hosting provider?
and for the record, I have three other hosting companies that I use and they are johnny on the spot with any tech support questions. I just dont want all my sites piled on same hosting provider and want to spread them out over 5 or 6 hosting providers.
Thanks for any feedback on this.

Honestly IMO if the IP address are fresh I would demand them to issue some new ones since you really have nothing to lose.
I once ordered a server which had a few IP blacklist but I really didn't care because it was nothing more than a test server. However I did contact the people who had the IP on blacklisted and they said the datacenter had to handle it.

It's there responsibility to provide clean IPs. Demand them, or move on.

It can slip past on ocassion. One of my IPs is blacklisted on some trash blacklist that doesn't even take requests to remove them or log the reason it was put on it. Can't remember their name, don't think anybody really respects their list anyway. I'm sure they'll be upset that it slip past them if they're a decent provider.

They basically said they would try to get them whitelisted. Havent heard a word back all day even though we sent multiple tickets with extra information and other questions regarding glitches in the server.
If I could do this all over again I would not use their services. But my manager said to give them another day ot two to see if they do get it resolved. Very frustrating to say the least.
Another thing that bugs me is that we had a migration from one server to another. I think the blacklisted IP should have raised a red flag during initial migration tests.

I honestly think, before an IP is given out to anyone it should be checked if its clean and not black listed. They shouldn't just give you a blacklisted IP.
Also I think you should be getting updates on the issue. Hopefully you will get this resolved soon.

Just ask your host to switch the IPs for clean fresh ones, the previous user might've gotten them blacklisted without the host knowing.

The host said giving us clean IP addresses is an option. Question is, how long will this take and would our sites go down?
Im hoping we can do this after hours of business today so we dont disrupt our business operations. I asked the host technical support this morning several hours ago and have not heard a word back.
I know we arent their only clients but if I messed up a client like they did I would be johnny on the spot in addressing any questions they had to make up for it.

You will need to update your domain DNS records which can cause some downtime. Not more than few hours, usually few minutes.

Mistakes can happen, but a good service should fix those mistakes!
If something simple as replacing a blacklisted IP is already a trouble with them, be ready for more trouble.
I would suggest to keep an eye out for another host for your websites.

Are the IPs blacklisted on a major blacklist or a small junk /24 blacklist? If it is listed on a major blacklist where you are guaranteed to have email issues, request fresh IPs.

Ok, got fresh ips last night, changed out all sites ips on registrar and host, and today got knocked out of about 35 email accounts. We moved 50 sites, 25 each to two dedicated servers.
About 35 or more sites are active, and we cannot access webmail.
been down all morning and cant even access cpanel.
Was really hoping for smoother sailing. This is the third day of major problems that are seriously affecting our business sales.
About at my whits end with this company.
I would really appreciate any recommendations for new hosting companies. Their tech support shows absolutely no sense of urgency knowing full well they have just about crippled our business. I call them up to speak to tech support and they ask me to open a ticket that usually gets replied to hours later.

Check out the WHT offers section and email/call some providers. With a cPanel server it will be easy to move.
