4 year old girl calls 911 nearly 300 times
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070705/.../odd911_caller
CARPENTERSVILLE, Ill. - Authorities tracked down a 4-year-old girl who called 911 nearly 300 times last month by offering to deliver McDonald's to her suburban Chicago apartment.
Unbeknownst to her mother, the girl used a deactivated cell phone to call dispatchers 287 times in June — sometimes as often as 20 times a shift. [more]

I think it means they tracked her down by offering McDonalds, not that she was asking for it.

My son called 911 when he was 4. His 2 yr old sister had scratched his nose with the edge of a book, so he called to tell them he was hurt. They asked him if he needed an ambulance and he told them to send a fire truck.
So, never tell your kid "If you're ever hurt or need help in an emergency, call 911."

That's exactly what it means.
"We talked with her and we convinced her if she told us where she lives, we would bring her McDonald's," he said. "She finally gave us her address. So we sent the police over — with no McDonald's."There is no best host. There is only the host that's best for you.

If only they could have taught her to call 911 if she in fact *ate* at McDonalds.
I guess it's hard to get a 4 year to read and comprehend "Fast Food Nation"...

LOL! I wouldn't send that girl McDonalds, either. Are you telling me that none of you did stuff like this when you were 4 years old? When I was 4 years old, I never knew phone exist.

We used to have these call-boxes at the end of each block that would dispatch EMS/Police/Fire when you pressed a button. My little brother, when he was 4 or 5, wanted to see what would happen if he pressed the buttons.
He found out. My mother was less than pleased....

You wouldn't believe how long this story was on the news. A month or two before hand some other 3-4 year old again, in Illinois called 911 about 100 times in a week on a deactivated cell phone, that only was mentioned for a day or two : /

So True!
If only this was the worst thing your child would actually do. Thankfully they located the culprit! Possibly we need to pull out the battery on all of the cell phones we hand over to little ones to play with. She was just practicing her new skill probably. Just part of the proccess of learning when to call 911.
And thats really cute AH-Tina that your son did that for his little sister. Shows how much he cares about his little sis!

I recognize the situation, LiquidWebPhil When kids discover new items they experiment, so this can happen. But 300 times, that's a lot.
