Gotcha, that makes more sense. Although your post now is edited to say you sent them blues, might want to edit one more time

    I once sent them a 2tb green and got a 2tb RE

Well that would be fantastic in your case. They say that they will send an equivalent or better drive as a replacement. Caviar Blue's are by no means a similar product to that of the Blacks. I would say they treated you well if you got an RE4.

nope, certainly not. I would rather take a green over a blue. The blues are just awful.

Ya, hopefully all the bottle necks will start to become ironed out this quarter and the next. And we won't get these rediculous hikes and 'mistakes'.

latest assessments with regard to post-flood recovery effort by HDD industry:
    http://www.channelregister.co.uk/201..._flood_impact/

it seems Q3/2012 is still the target to reach the production level matching pre-flood.

So far I havnt really experienced any problems getting the hdds my customers need. Only semi-tough hdds to get are the WD2003FYYS.

Q3 does sound about right based off my reps at WD and Seagate. Although Seagate might be a little while longer as they've had a lot more issues it seems, especially with their SAS line & the motors used.

That's good, because I need order several dozen drives this week. I've been able to hold out since right before the flooding.

System builders and full server orders are getting priority over straight stand-alone drive orders at distributors though.
