BEST Dedicated Server Hardware Specs 1000$ - 2000$

What are the best Server Hardware Specs 1000$ to 2000$ can buy?

As, I'm going to building this server myself. I'm looking at it from a hardware value point of view and what kind of specs would go together best. I'm sure there is a lot of experienced people on this form that can recommend a good hardware build.

I'm looking for value, usability, reliability, compatibility, longevity just in case upgrades need to be made, physical space is not a problem.

Going to running Ubuntu Server, Nginx, mostly eCommerce sites, expecting a lot of traffic, but server is only going to be used by me.

I'm located in Canada, so the prices else where might be slightly different, that's why mind the gap. But I'm sure I can get a rough idea from all you folks.

You can build up some nice configurations with the latest E3-CPU's.
We've got quite some good experiences with the E3-1270v3's, and they match your budget perfectly.

If you want fast disk i/o, make sure to opt for SSD drives.

E3-12xx v2 or v3, 32 GB RAM, few 2TB hard drives. Also you can look for additional options like an IP KVM, RAID controller, etc.

Unless you are CPU computation bound, which almost no website is i would purchase a last generation server on EBay and then throw all money into replaceing/upgrading it with new hard drives and RAM.

It's pretty hard to impossible to get the good cabeling, airflow, monitoring, separate integrated service processors that this machines have in your own purchased hardware.

I just pushed to 2010 old Sun Fire X2270 i got for 100 Euro, to 16TB Harddisks and 96GB RAM. Runs really nice. Upgrade costs about 1000 Euro.
