Does anyone have any software recommendations for running burn in tests prior to putting servers in production?
Thanks

Use memtest86 to test ram, use dd if=/dev/urandom of=/dev/null to test CPU and load, use dd if=/dev/urandom of=/dev/sda to test hard disk

Sorry, I don't use windows, get a bootable Linux CDROM and boot into rescue mode to run Linux command, that's what I do for windows server.

Prime95 works equally well on Linux and Windows. It goes a step farther than most tests by actually doing serious calculations. I've seen servers fail Prime95 after 5-10 minutes but pass others running for hours.

For stress testing, we generally run Prime95 with custom blend and small-fft options for at least 30 minutes.
As for windows, prime95 is a good choice, and running the suite of burn-in/benchmarks with sandra is another option as well.

Just to confirm we're talking about the same Prime95 at http://www.overclock.net/t/137251/prime95
Does this do burn in tests for the CPU/MEM/HDD?
Thanks guys.
