    2) @ Snel the KVM system you have is not very good at all, you have to know the exact combination of browser, when to start pressing buttons while the screen is black etc, I have the exact same IMPI version with another dedi company that is not as locked down as yours and do not have the same issues, so maybe managa has some ground here.
The KVMs absolutely have issues (which SuperMicro is working on) but this server is not experiencing any of them.
The customer even sent screenshots showing the FreeBSD installer himself, indicating it is working fine.

    Great Guns!

Having been with them for a short amount of time, I can say that they are one of the best I've come across.

Order servers is easy and Wouter is always fast and helpful. I also came across the KVM issue but wouter quickly helped me to get it working. The problem seems to be made more acute when using a slow UPLINK connection - the slower the data from your virtual media gets to the server the the worse the problem gets.

I do wish they would allow me to have private network (I keep pestering Wouter about that) but otherwise I haven't been able to find anyone else who has the comparable kit for the price point.

Do remember that this is UNMANAGED hosting so you really should know what you are doing - if you just want a VPS I believe they do those as well.

8.5/10 from me - well done Snel.

I have had services with SnelServer since the 30th March.

So nearly 4 months , The main reason I moved to them is due to Serverius asking me to leave due to getting frequent DDoS attacks [that they had no logs of it but was hanging there switch and they knew it was my server? ] , So I go to Snelserver on the night I was asked to leave and I had the node online the same night instant setup.

    Wouter was very helpful.

The same night I received a 4.7gbit flood aimed at the Host Node , I contacted them to see if they could help...
To get an instant response asking for my root password of which they said there seems to be an on going flood and helped me blackhole the IP which resolved my issue I was having at Serverius.

I also like the fact they don't have 'cheap' or 'old' hardware it's decent upto date stuff .

We have some machines with them as well and have been happy overall. Their team is very helpful and polite. KVM works well. Their support hours are not the best, but perhaps they can change that in the future at some point.

    Happy overall.

    Sorry for bump.

Worked with SNEL server for about 5 months back in early 2011.

Great host, I had a rather expensive server and the support was terrific and connection/reliability/hardware was excellent and worked great.

They have a very good datacenter/network provider, got full 1GBps up to 500 miles away from the server.. very very good.

Wouter would answer my live support request every time, went above and beyond ordinary support and helped me with difficult questions that wouldn't even be their responsibility (really appreciate that, Wouter.)

Unfortunately, I had to move over to a US datacenter due to clients in US.

    Would definitely recommend to anyone.

Maybe it worth the pain to ask them to open new datacenter in US

I don't recommend it! This the worst company that I have worked with! The website is very well designed! but you will not get what you paid for! So, if have a serious business, don't go with this company! if you need a cheap price with a lot of outage! and a lot of open tickets! Just go with them! Don't trust the website design, and what they have say!

I would be curious to hear what your specific experience with them was. I've used them in the past and didn't run into any problems with them.

I'm going to post a review about my SnelServer experience soon I think it's been rather good apart from the 3 outages.

I haven't had many issues with them to be honest.

They had 2-3 outages due to 'unknown' reasons in wedare

On the initial move they had 2 hours over the window due to crap planning and VLAN's weren't setup right or something.

then a power outage 30 days in.

then this network outage like 79 days? in.

    Snel Hosting Sucks

I have been using Snel for a few months, however this morning they shut down my server without warning because one [stupid] individual complained about spam during the weekend.

Snel requires the administrator to reply to every spam complaint within 24 hours, otherwise they shut down your server.

I am looking for a reliable hosting in the euro-zone. Any suggestions?

Why don't you try to resolve your problem instead of just leaving your provider?

Suspending your server due to DMCA's/or spam complaint is a normal procedure for hosts.

    Snel Hosting Sucks

The 24 hour period is way too short. If I am away during the weekend, I arrive on Monday morning and my server is down. Those idiots at Snel are inflexible on this, so I will go somewhere else.

I don't really think you are being fair. You just need to remove the website where the spam comes from, or talk with the customer, contact snelserver and you will have your server runnin again i guess it might be this easy.

    Snel Hosting Sucks

The server does not send spam at all, however there are users (typically from hotmail.com and aol.com) reporting emails as spam. Out of 30,000 opt-in emails sent, only about 10 complaints of spam. The problem is the world is abundant of idiots and imbeciles. I did technical support spending as much as 45 minutes on the telephone trying/helping someone to do a copy & paste. This is the clientele of customers on that servers. Those individuals enter their email address to get a free evaluation key for the software and label that email as spam.

Having to respond to every spam complain is one thing, however having 24 hours is just unacceptable.

    Hi DanMorin,

We are sorry to hear about your discontentedness but we have been always clear about our policy. As we have explained we did send an email to your registered email address so there was enough time to solve the issue.

We also have an article about the way we handle abuse complaints, please take a look at the article 'How do you handle abuse or dmca complaints' via the link below.

24 hours is pretty normal in the hosting industry. If you cannot be around to administer your server at least on a daily basis I suggest you hire someone to check in on it whenever you're away or (cheaper option) get email set up on your phone so you can respond to complaints within the necessary time period.

    Snel Hosting Sucks

I have been doing hosting for more than 15 years and never had this problem before. We have a database of over 1 million users. I will not hire someone to handle 2 or 3 spam complaint per week; this is absolutely ridiculous.

I will simply find another ISP where there is more flexibility. At least if I had 7 days to respond to a spam complaint, I could live with that. By the way, among the spam complaint received, none of them replied to contest the "bogus report". Those who complain should remember the following: Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour,

With Snel, I am guilty until I can prove my innocence in 24 hours.

As others mentioned, 24 hours is pretty standard. However, not everyone will just shut your server down if you don't respond within the time frame.

I agree. What borders me is shutting down the server after 24 hours of a spam complaint.

I just received 3 spam complaints from the same Hotmail user. I guess the person entered his email 3 times in a row, and then filed 3 complaint. By the way, I love the WORLD. I just don't want to do business with idiots. Life is too short to waste my time with those who have an IQ below the room temperature (70).

I also have to agree that you should be available at all days for issues like this.
It's no excuse that it's weekend, we are all operating in a 24x7 business here

This is fascinating. The server is not sending any spam, yet I get comments that if I am not happy being treated like a spammer I should open a 9-to-5 shop.

Instead I will find an ISP more flexible on this issue. All emails are opt-in emails: the same as when joining webhostingtalk.com, you have to enter your email address to create an account.
