    Question Looking for laptop

I'm looking to purchase a laptop. I'm looking for a laptop in the $200-$400 range with Intel Core i3, i5, or i7 and with 3GB+ RAM. I've been looking around eBay and have found a few, but they're all in the USA and charge an extra $50+ to have it shipped to Canada. I'm wondering if there's anyway to get around paying this extra $50 or if there's anywhere else I can try looking for a laptop?

Do web searches for "issues", "errors", "battery issues", "failures" and the like for the model you're interested in if choosing Toshiba. Mine has the battery going dead inside a week or so in the bag, shut off.

Totally agree there. Though I don't like their desktops, their laptops have always been very reliable in my experience.

I suggest ASUS or Sony VAIO series; been using both for a couple of years without any issue.

Dell for laptops and towers in my opinion

I've had two HP laptops for the previous ones and they just break malfunction etc. The first one hard drive burnt and almost caught fire (was smoking) and the one I'm replacing at the moment the mouse pads broken and it's hard drive is getting faulty.

You could try Amazon; I've seen better deals than eBay and I'd trust an Amazon seller 1000 times over an eBay seller, because they are all verified and trustworthy.

For your price range, I'd recommend a toshiba. Best bang for your buck despite the sometimes-iffy build quality.

Seriously? I'd suggest the "best bang for my buck" is one that's never iffy.

Can't go wrong with a Lenovo, specifically their ThinkPad line. I believe they can be obtained at a pretty decent price on eBay if cost is an issue. I'm on my second ThinkPad (went from T61, to T420s) and couldn't be happier.

What I meant was that you can get great specs while sacrificing the quality of material used on the structure of the laptop.
