Talking Aussie Pride - The Monaro

I've been watching the new Holden Monaro ad on TV.

I think even the american muscle car junkies would like this one:

5.7 litre V8, two door. Retailing at around $40 000 US (RRP from $58,750 AU)

Pontiac was going to make this their new GTO against the Ford Mustang a year or two back - not sure if the deal ever went though.

    More here:

AU comments on the GTO/Monaro idea.

Not a big car freak myself but I don't think there's an Australian alive that doesn't take pride in the Monaro. It's as part of Australia as the Constitution and Apple Pie is to Americans.

Oh yeah baby!! That's one sweet ride. I like the yellow ones. They look awesome.

I heard that the Monaro project started out with some workers at Holden who started working on this in their spare time. Management got wind of this and it took off from there. Fabulous car.

Bob.. funny enough, if the GTO thing ever happens going against the new Mustangs... you can pick a three year old 'stang up for close to half the price it was new - about equal to a shabby condition '67 in good condition.

Ford in the US has kind of dropped the ball in the past few years, so I think it'll be an easybeat if they keep enough Holden parts onboard.

They're very nice cars - my neighbour has a black one.

I'm not a real big car fan myself - but the Monaro is one nice car

hehe. I used to spend a lot of Saturday's testing driving cars. I'd drive down to Brisbane BMW and take 3 or 4 out for a spin. Should test drive the Monaro soon too. Man, how I'd like to open that baby up on a long stretch of road.

Brisbane to the Gold Coast is a nice stretch to wind out on.. shame about all the cameras and speed traps though

it's a really nice car - bit over rated though, if it wasn't for the "monaro" name they wouldn't have sold anywhere near as many, it's basically a 2 door commodore

I will be buying another car soon, not a monaro though :p

    Now that's just plain unnatural.
