Intel Quad Core Xeon 3220 - 4 x 2.40GHz or Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU 950 @ 3.07GHz ?
Hello Guys,
I just ordered a Dedicated Server and I chosed Intel Quad Core Xeon 3220 - 4 x 2.40GHz.
But what I have been provided is: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU 950 @ 3.07GHz
anyone please let me know which one is better for me?
I have a busy high traffic media streaming web site.

So you mean the Corei& I have been given is better than Xeon.
But I have heared that for a Server Xeon is better than Corei7 I know that there is a big difference in Processor between these two system but I just want to make sure.
That I am getting a better system

in this case you have got a better cpu as what you ordered.
Please take a look at this -> intel comparing
As you can see, the core I7 has more threads of CPU and also a better clock speed.

The i7 is dramatically faster, but doesn't support ECC ram for added stability. I would certainly prefer the i7, but there are some people on the forum here who wouldn't use a server without ECC ram.

Intel i7 will be faster, the Xeon will be more reliable for data, because it supports ECC ram.

A great site that I use to compare CPU is http://www.cpubenchmark.net/
These are not EXACT ratings like you can't always say one is better than another because of a higher score although it does a fine overall job.
