    Question Need your wisdom my fallow forum friends regarding hosting my video clips site

    I am working on a video clips sites
    I think I am going to use WMV files
    My site will use the gamescript script
    Regarding hosting how is bigdaddy?
    Since my site will be new and it will take me time to upload movies and get people no need to order from the start a big expensive hosting plan.
    But if you have some tips it will be nice.
    What about hot linking what can I do?

    They, and almost all others don't allow hosting WMV files, especially if that's all you're going to be uploading.

    I am not going to let people upload movies to my site
    All the wmv I am going to upload are legal

    But yeah.. check the http://acmovies.phroztnet.org subdomain of my flagsite. It's got PvP movies from like.. 1 meg up to 77megs.. and people have been downloading those for the past month like crazy.. no problems from DH at all. I just hit day 30 of my "cycle" for bandwidth.. here's the stats:

    hey kase, there are many things about hosting i dont understand.. could you explain 'why' thats abusing their service?

    Sure. Having a large number of WMV files that people are downloading/streaming drains bandwidth very fast. It also takes up a large amount of disk space. Although these resources are rightly allocated to you, you are piling a bunch of high-resource dependent files that take away from the performance of other user accounts on the same server.

    I was going to put my huge wmv's in my GD hosting account linked to my site
    May have to rethink this...

    I need a hosting company for my video site
    I am not going to be you tube or video google (for now)

    Might need a lot of bandwidth and perhaps a VPS or dedicated would be best
