Is your computer overheating? I used to get that on my old tower and I left it on the BIOS and it just told me that it was running really high... Are your fans running?

usually this happens because of overheating or fan processor die

did you check your harddisk and close some applications you do not really need? Check at Task Manager > Processes

Remove the cpu heatsink and clean both the surfaces properly, replace it back applying new thermal paste.

You can also get software to monitor the temperature sensors and show you what's happening - may give you a better idea of where the issue is.

If you're having to wait 30 minutes to restart it after it abruptly shuts off, I'm thinking it's an overheating issue.

Try to see that fans are well bolted and secured.
You can see the performance of the cpu with this software (free)

Please clean and replace your Graphics card if you are using the same. Also cleaning of processor fan and mother board also help to resolve the issue.
Be careful while performing the same.

Are you on Windows?
If so, go to the Start Menu --> Type in "Event Viewer" in the search bar, and open Event Viewer. Go to "Windows Logs" ---> "System Logs". You can then filter these results by any category you wish.
You would want to look for critical system errors in particular. You should see a critical error stating that your device was powered off un-expectantly. You will want to look for any errors before the shutdown that might give away what happened. If you see no relevant errors, there is a good chance that you have some failing hardware such as a bad PSU, etc.
I would download SpeedFan and keep it open to monitor your devices temperatures. If you find that your temperatures are exceeding 80-90c (depending on hardware), you probably have a overheating problem or a failing fan. Most computers have a BIOS setting to automatically shut off when they hit around 90c, so this could also explain your issues.

I once had this problem and fixed it by replacing the PSU. That mig be something to look into if your temperatures are fine.

Sounds most like over-heating although if you would like to confirm you can download a little tool called CoreTemp (assuming you use windows) leave that running and see how close your computer's core temperature gets to the "Tj. Max" and if it was close at your last check before it shut down, its almost certainly overheating. People have given good advice to help with overheating. Personally I like to clean it (either with a vacuum cleaner and/or compressed gas). If that doesn't help then as other say, clean the cpu and heat sink and re-apply heat sink compound.

I was quite confused for a second, was like "That must be a really powerful bios battery" :')
Id look at giving your PC a proper clean, new cpu paste, make sure all the fans are the right way round so you have good airflow, have the desktop somewhere with good airflow and try again, if still no joy then I don't know what to suggest. Maybe ram failure? Thats the main issue i have with my desktop in summer, kills ram for some reason, why I'm so happy I have aircon installed now :')David Cocozza | Technical Sales Administrator

I also think the reason why your PC shuts down is because of overheating. How old is your computer, by the way? Have you already tried cleaning your memory (like deleting temporary files, cookies, etc.)?
