Hmm. How will this affect Inktomi? Yahoo already uses Google for their engine.

They obviously want to be the KING of all search engines. Pretty expensive way to go about it.

It'll take a massive effort to dethrone Google, IMO.

    I certainly dont Google.

When it comes to bare searches, I think Google will win. But, Yahoo has more than a search field, it has news and information, which keeps me with Yahoo as my homepage.

Did they start doing that before or after google started doing it?

    Cool

I noticed this on the yahoo link:

"For fiscal 2002, ended in September, Inktomi posted revenue of $112.7 million and a net loss of $500.8 million"

Wouldn't it be nice if yahoo bought your business for a quarter billion, when you lost $5 for every $1 received??

The sales price would only cover about half of last year's loss though.
You'll get fewer complaints from over performing than from over promising.

Yahoo! is a directory, not a spider-based search engine. So your site will not be crawled by a Yahoo! bot.

I never use Yahoo, too many anoying popups, although I did submit my site to it.

Plenty of cash from all those paid listings, I'd imagine...
