Hmm. How will this affect Inktomi? Yahoo already uses Google for their engine.

They obviously want to be the KING of all search engines. Pretty expensive way to go about it.

I certainly dont Google.
When it comes to bare searches, I think Google will win. But, Yahoo has more than a search field, it has news and information, which keeps me with Yahoo as my homepage.

yahoo nows has yahooresearch, in which you pay and they do this special search for you.

I get slurped by Inktomi a lot, weekly or more often. I don't recall seing Yahoo bots though.Laura K.

I noticed this on the yahoo link:
"For fiscal 2002, ended in September, Inktomi posted revenue of $112.7 million and a net loss of $500.8 million"
Wouldn't it be nice if yahoo bought your business for a quarter billion, when you lost $5 for every $1 received??
The sales price would only cover about half of last year's loss though.You'll get fewer complaints from over performing than from over promising.

i dount yahoo will drop google yet as they are contracted but once the contract expires id assume theyd go with inktomi
