    Forgot to move parked domain

    Hi,
I have just moved a client across and forgot that they had a parked domain.
I cant get into cpanel for the old host now as I have moved the dns.

Do I need to repoint the dns settings, get back in and unpark it?
    Is that the only way?
I haven't moved many parked domains before either.
Can someone give me a rundown on the procedure for doing this..??
    Much appreciated.

If you want to get into cPanel for your old host, use the old ip address (i.e. http://12.345.67.89/cpanel). That's how I would get back into an old one after the nameservers updated to a new account and before I'd closed out the old account.

that worked a treat. Had to do a whois to find the ip.
I had to call the host as the parked domain was not showing in cpanel.
    They fixed that.
    I unparked it.
The registrar is enetica so i should be able to log in there and change the dns settings...correct?

    I don't think so, no.
    On the registrants end:
When the domain registrant decides to use the domain on some other way, they will input the relevant DNS and that is the only content that will be pulled up when the domain name gets typed in/otherwise accessed.

    On the parking end:
I've never seen any parking company that makes any mention of "unparking".
Many times when I attempt to park a previously owned domain at some of the more popular places, I find that I am unable to as it reflects a different account on file.
In the case of SEDO, I then either wait for their ownership confirmation process, which usually does the trick.
Other places such as Parked, require that you submit the name/names to an account specialist...which is usually fast and painless.

    Thanks for the learning excersise.

Let me see if I understand.

    So...
Once this old hosting was closed the parked domain would automatically be let go.
But whilst the old hosting is still running I would not be able to park the domain somewhere else because it is still active...correct?

in fact what you are saying is that the parking on the old host doesn't even have to be changed as of course its all based on the dns settings and if you have repointed those then the old host is out of the equation.
    Thank you

Would that really be that hard?

Unless I misunderstood the original post,
If it was hosted where it was parked...or if the DNS were pointed to the parking but no longer are...then yes, I believe all that needs to be done is to change the DNS to point elsewhere. That would essentially be "unparking" it.

I think to cut a long story short all I needed to do was change the dns settings at the Registrar.
    Simple as that.
    Thanks all.

Yes, I believe that is all that is required.
-Hope it all works out for you. -

Yep just waiting for the Registrar control panel password from the client on Monday and we will be there.
    Too easy.
